This major residential remodel in Olympic Valley, CA, was a complete interior and exterior transformation designed to elevate an aging mountain home into a high-performance, Mountain Modern retreat. The client sought a sophisticated aesthetic that could withstand harsh winters while providing exceptional multi-family functionality. Our work encompassed extensive structural upgrades, custom millwork, and the integration of highly durable, contemporary finishes throughout the property.

The exterior overhaul was massive, tackling both structural challenges and outdated features. We removed an old carport and unstable boulder retaining walls, replacing them with a sleek new garage and formidable, contemporary concrete retaining walls. These walls feature custom recessed "ghost lighting", which provides both security and dramatic curb appeal. To ensure year-round functionality, we installed heated pavers in front of the garage and completely rebuilt the two upper decks with a waterproofing system. All exterior railings were custom-designed and fabricated by our team, featuring modern horizontal cable railings, and the lower deck was finished in Trex hidden fastener decking.

Inside, the home was completely refreshed. We updated all interior cabinetry by refinishing the boxes and installing all new, custom-fabricated cabinet faces. All windows were replaced with energy-efficient Andersen Architectural Series windows to improve comfort and performance. A significant design feature was the reconfiguration of the traditional wood-burning fireplace into a contemporary linear gas fireplace surrounded by a sleek, textured American Clay finish. The dining room was optimized for mountain life with a custom built Hickory table and booth seating.

A focus on multi-generational living drove the creation of a functional lower-level space. We reconfigured the bottom floor into a small, highly effective in-law flat complete with a mini-kitchen and a custom-designed breakfast nook. From the custom-built bunk room to the striking blend of natural wood beams and contemporary finishes in the master suite, this Olympic Valley remodel stands as a testament to combining structural necessity with high-end, transitional design.
